Desert Safari Dubai Traveler Story – November 2024

Desert Safari Dubai Traveler Story

I had long heard about the wonders of the Dubai desert safari – the thrilling dune bashing, the mesmerizing sunsets, and the charm of Arabian nights. So, when I finally got to visit Dubai, I ensured a desert safari was at the top of my list. This is a desert safari Dubai traveler story of mine

The Journey Begins

On the afternoon of the safari, a 4×4 Land Cruiser picked me up from my hotel. Our guide, Ahmed, was a friendly local with a warm smile who immediately made me feel comfortable. After gathering a few other travellers, we set out towards the Lahbab Desert, about 45 minutes from the city. As we left the glitzy skyscrapers of Dubai behind, the landscape started changing – from urban scenes to vast stretches of dunes under the open sky.

Dune Bashing

When we reached Desert Desert, Ahmed deflated the tyres for better traction on the sand. He gave us a quick safety briefing, and the real adventure began. Dune bashing was like a rollercoaster ride but wilder! We all held on tight, laughing and gasping as Ahmed maneuvered through the terrain expertly.

Sandboarding and Camel Riding

After the dune bashing, we stopped at a high dune to try sandboarding. Standing on the dune, I strapped on the board and slid down the sand, feeling the thrill of gliding across the golden slope. It was a unique experience, and I tried it a few more times before heading to the camel-riding area.

I climbed onto the camel, and as it stood up, I was momentarily caught off-balance but quickly steadied. We rode gently through the Desert Desert, admiring the views and snapping some photos. The camels moved in a peaceful rhythm, and I could feel a deep connection to the traditional Arabian way of life.

Sunset in the Desert

We paused on a high dune as the evening approached to watch the sunset. It was a sight I’ll never forget – the sun dipped lower, painting the sky in orange, pink, and purple hues. The entire Desert desert seemed to glow with warmth, and I felt a sense of tranquillity I had never experienced before.

The Bedouin Camp Experience

After sunset, we headed to a traditional Bedouin camp with tents, carpets, and cushions. The atmosphere was lively, with Arabic music and lanterns lighting the camp.

Dinner was an Arabian feast, with delicious dishes like hummus, tabbouleh, grilled meats, and more. The camp had plenty of entertainment, too – a belly dancer, a Tanoura dancer spinning in a vibrant costume, and even a fire show that left us all in awe.

Henna, Hookah, and Stargazing

Between performances, we had time to explore the camp. I got a henna tattoo from a local artist who painted an intricate floral design on my hand. There was also a shisha (hookah) corner for those interested to try different flavoured tobaccos.

Once the activities wrapped up, I wandered away from the lights to gaze at the desert sky. I found myself completely lost in the beauty of it all, thinking about the ancient travellers who once crossed this Desert desert under the same stars.
